Comfortable, clean, spacious public rooms. Good breakfast. Good pool, sauna, steam room. Excellent parking. Very central.
We were disappointed that there was no Ceilidh when the hotel advertised these - presumably to attract people on Sunday evenings. We thought this was outright misrepresentation, if not a breach of the trade descriptions act.
Poor night's sleep, because of crashing and banging in the night and a constant tapping somewhere near our room. Got up and went in search of night porter but nothing done. In the morning, reception staff said that we should have moved rooms in the middle of the night! But we were not offered this. No compensation or real concern for very poor night's sleep.
Staff provided early access to room. Dining excellent. Room very quiet, as requested. Fine pool and exercise facilities. Front desk very helpful always. Great location for day trips to countryside. Plentiful outside parking.
My short stay was very pleasant, efficient and friendly staff and a clean and comfortable hotel
Did not like the parking arrangements, found it difficult to get a space in the car park, not many reserved for guests actually staying overnight. The menu in the main Restaurant did not give a very wide choice and there was no fish on the menu. The menu shown to me at Reception when checking was not the same as presented to us when we went for dinner, and it was disappointing
The staff was really helpful and could not do enough to make sure your stay was enjoyable
We had a lovely time, room was comfortable and clean and in the heart of Dumfries.Pool and spa are were excellent.Great value for money.
Bar was very small, so small that we used it once, couldn't get a seat so didn't go back!
The quality of food is excellent, particularly the evening meals, and is very good value. The breakfast is also good.
The hotel rooms look a little 'tired' and in need of updating, however the bathroom was modern. It would help if the bedroom colour scheme contained less 'brown'.
Friendly and helpfull staff. Breakfast included in price was amazing, including both traditional English and a wide variety on continental breakfast options. I also liked seeing Fair Trade coffee at the room tray.
In our family room (No.11) the double bed was 'overused' so it was sinking towards the middle making it difficult to relax.
The hotel and staff were very pleasant the lady who served my breakfast was really nice and was a lovely breakfast especially as I had been in the gym for a little while we would stay again if we are in the area.
Proximity to the DG1 centre for our night out
Poor communication from staff. I felt I was expected to know what to do and where amenities were located.
It was close to the family I was visiting and very central.
The room was grubby and the communal areas were depressingly decorated. Breakfast was a shambles with one member of staff- the breakfast supervisor according to the photo board- positively offhand.
Tasteless cooked breakfast, asked for room service breakfast on day of departure but they never collected the request from the door the night before so it never arrived!!
The night barman Alan Caskie
No direct access internally to function suite without having to go up and down stairs. We had a newborn baby and pram with us.
We had stayed before and the room wasn't great but the room we had this time was very nice and breakfast was also good.
I understood that when I booked I gave my bank details and thought that I had paid in full but on check out the receptionist advised me that I still had to pay. I think that should be explained a bit better on your website.
